Severn Trent Water is investing more than half a million pounds to upgrade the way sewage is treated in Cutnall Green in Worcestershire.

The £600,000 improvement will see Severn Trent’s contractor partner, Mott McDonald Bentley, laying 3km of new sewers across fields and sections of the A442, Doverdale Lane and Wassage Way.

In future, sewage will be pumped away rather than treated on site, which will better protect the environment and help to prevent pollution in local rivers and streams.  The work is expected to start at the end of April and is due to be completed before winter.

Severn Trent Water’s Gareth Mead, commented:

“To make sure the quality of water in our streams and rivers get better and better, we need to continually improve and upgrade our sewers and treatment works. Our improvements will now see Cutnall Green becoming a sewage pumping station, with waste water treated at Droitwich, a larger high-tech site nearby.”
